The Institute for Technology and Society (ITS) is implementing “Privacy First: Empowering Parents and Teachers to Protect Children’s Mental Health in the Digital Age.” This initiative is implemented under the HumanRightivism project, with the support of the Community Development Fund (CDF) and the Embassy of Sweden in Kosovo.
Project aim
The project responds to the growing risks children face online—such as harmful content, excessive screen time, cyberbullying, and pressure to share personal information—and promotes a safer digital environment grounded in children’s well-being, privacy, and dignity. In practice, the project aims to:
- strengthen awareness and practical knowledge on children’s privacy and digital safety;
- encourage healthy and responsible technology use; and
- support parents, teachers, and schools with child-friendly resources that promote trust-based guidance and respectful online behaviour.
Materials for Children
As part of the project, we have prepared two child-friendly materials designed for use in schools and at home:
- “Rules of the Digital World” – a simple poster that introduces practical rules for safer and more respectful online behaviour (e.g., not sharing personal information, respecting others online, and asking a trusted adult for help when something feels wrong).
- QR Code Sticker (“Scan Me”) – a sticker designed for classrooms and youth spaces, allowing quick access to the materials through a QR code.
