The Institute for Technology and Society (ITS) proudly presents its new research report, Children’s Online Privacy, Safety, and Well-Being in Kosovo. This report examines how children’s online privacy and safety are shaped by the broader realities of digital life, family communication, school response, and institutional preparedness in Kosovo.
Prepared within the framework of the Privacy First project, the report combines international and local evidence with findings from stakeholder engagement activities involving parents, teachers, school staff, psychologists, and institutional representatives. The report approaches online safety not only as a technical issue, but also as a matter of trust, dignity, child protection, and well-being.
This report provides an in-depth analysis of:
- The current international and local landscape of children’s online privacy, safety, and digital risks
- The Kosovo context, including institutional, educational, and practical challenges
- Findings from one workshop and three training sessions with adult stakeholders
- Key implications for parents, teachers, schools, and public institutions
- Practical recommendations to strengthen communication, response pathways, and child protection in digital spaces
Why it matters
As children’s lives become increasingly shaped by online environments, protecting their privacy, safety, and well-being requires more than awareness alone. It requires informed adults, stronger school-family coordination, practical response mechanisms, and institutions that are better prepared to support children when digital risks arise. This report aims to contribute to that conversation in Kosovo through evidence-based analysis and realistic recommendations.
